겨울 동안 얼어붙었던 퇴비가 봄과 함께 녹아내리면, 숨죽이던 생명들이 깨어난다. 인간의 배설물과 음식물 쓰레기가 흙과 함께 발효된 3년의 시간. 이 천연 퇴비를 전시장으로 가져와 온도와 습도, 공기를 살피는 일은 얼어붙은 시간을 녹이는 과정이었다. 알을 깨는 벌레들과 흙을 뚫고 피어나 다시 시들어가는 씨앗들의 부단한 움직임을 목격한다. 생과 사가 매 순간 교차하며 호흡하는 순간이다.
When the compost, frozen through the winter, melts with the coming of spring, life that had held its breath awakens. A three-year span of time during which human waste and food waste fermented together with the soil. Bringing this natural compost into the exhibition space to tend to its temperature, humidity, and air was a process of thawing frozen time. I witness the unceasing movements of insects hatching from their eggs, and seeds sprouting through the earth, growing, and then withering away again. It is a moment where life and death intersect and breathe at every turn.
